Musician Opportunity – Me and My Nana

Cubbin Theatre Company is seeking expressions of interest from a singer/musician to join Me and My Nana, a theatrical experience for children aged 1-5 and their grownups.

We are looking for a strong singer and guitarist to perform live, memorised solo versions of existing songs within an intimate, child-led performance.

About the Role
The musician is a key presence in Me & My Nana, performing live guitar and vocals throughout the show. The musician supports the two other performers on stage and will sometimes sing three-part harmonies. Other instrumentation such as ukulele is a bonus.
Acting experience is not required, but confidence and ease on stage are essential.

This is a paid role.

The repertoire includes familiar, nostalgic songs such as:
Singin’ in the Rain
Splish Splash
Stuff & Nonsense
Do You Believe in Magic
Sunshine on My Shoulders

We are looking for someone who is:
A confident, skilled guitarist and singer with strong musicality
Comfortable performing solo and fully memorised
At ease on stage, with a warm and engaging presence
Able to adapt timing, energy, and delivery in response to young audiences (ages 1-5)
Open, playful, and responsive to interaction in the room

About Me and My Nana
Me and My Nana is a joyful, tender theatre experience exploring a day between a grandparent and their grandchild. Through playful surprises and gentle moments, the work celebrates connection, imagination, and intergenerational relationships.
Created from workshops with grandparents in the Ōtautahi community, the show reflects Cubbin’s commitment to making theatre that meets children where they are. See more here
