Tai loves sports, the problem is he’s not very good at them. So he makes up his own game: Sportsball!
An exuberant and sensitive solo performance about a child who has a big ball and even bigger dreams.
Ōtautahi’s own Cubbin Theatre Company presents their brand new show for children under 5, SPORTSBALL.
Designed to encourage a growth mindset in young children, the show celebrates and challenges our nation’s obsession with sports. It explores the impact of impatience and failure, adult expectations and their own limitations as well as encouraging playfulness and thinking outside of the square.

FAQ

How long is the show?

Approximately 40 minutes.

Where will we sit?

There will be seats as well as some room on the floor at the front if children would like to get closer.

Does my child need to sit still and be quiet?

No! We encourage the children to respond however they like.

There is an element of observation and listening to Sportsball but however children wish to respond will be welcomed. That’s part of the excitement of live theatre!

I’m running late! Can I come in after the start time?

Absolutely! You are welcome to come and go from the space whenever you wish during the performance.

What age is this show for?

Anyone and everyone is welcome to Sportsball. The show has been made specifically for 3-5 year olds but we think everyone will enjoy it! Everyone will need their own ticket except babies in arms who get to come for free.
